We use a loophole in the platform’s system to allow reporting through the Share function. H.A.N.S., the Hateful Audio Notification Service, is a Whatsapp bot that asks questions and generates a message, which is then sent to Spotify via email and Twitter.

We hijacked the global #spotifywrapped campaign. Already in November, we were pointing out abusive content available on Spotify last year. That’s how we promoted H.A.N.S.’ number.
In the first three months, over 5,000 content pieces were reported. Fans, the press and prominent musicians support H.A.N.S. The streaming giant felt the pressure but only deleted songs reluctantly. So H.A.N.S. has to keep on working.
